Dear team,

Thanks for an excellent application. I have been using and updating LibreOffice for years, and had very often used the original fork before that too.

For a few weeks now, however, I have been noticing a green frame around the edges of the application and even around the edges of any dialog box that I open up e.g. the ‘Open’ dialog box, the ‘find’ box, etc. Please see attached screenshot.

Could this be a setup problem, bug or someone eavesdropping running (I hope not) a rooted machine on my laptop? The problem recurs when updating to the latest LibreOffice version (4.2.4.2), even when uninstalling and reinstalling this.

I am running Windows 8.1 on a 64 bit machine using a firewall and a realtime antivirus scanner, and I have run antivirus scan and antispyware application scan to no avail. I

(2) Perhaps there is a related issue to the above: after cleaning temp files using Windows’ cleaning app, I still discover some temp files under:

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Temp

Many of these temp files (which I have chosen to examine and open by default in NotePad, hence the NotePad icons besides the filenames) have contained the unformatted text of documents I had recently been editing in LibreOffice Writer.

I cannot open such files while LibreOffice is running, and of late, not even several minutes after shutting down LibreOffice. The message I get is: “The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.”

Is this normal, as I hadn’t noticed them in older versions?

Thanks again for your outstanding application, which I continue to enjoy.

With best wishes,

Jose

PS: I have restarted my laptop since posting my query above and thought to search through the temp files for any more vestiges of Writer document contents at:

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Temp (including subfolders)

However, I cannot find any more such contents. I think I deleted such temp files a few days ago out of concern.

In case it is relevant to this matter – I had thought to check for Java updates during the same session but a little earlier before posting my query. Java then updated my system from Java version 7 Update 55 to version 7 Update 60. The green frames persist though.

Thank you.

Perhaps my PC had been infected.

I have reinstalled my operating system and the green frames do not reappear.

To update this matter, I have since discovered that the green frame around the application border was created by my firewall’s (Comodo) autosandbox feature to represent that the application (LibreOffice) was being sandboxed.
