Libre Office Writer 3.4.3
When:
Insert > Fields > Date
Left Click on the created field > Fields... > Type: Date / Select: Date / Format: Additional Formats...
NOTE: Choose the "not fixed" Date format on the "Select" listbox

Choose a format, like "Friday, December 31, 1999". It will insert (today) "Tuesday, January 3, 2012". That's OK... Now save the document on .doc format (Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP/2003). Close the program. Open the document again.

It will appear "Tuesday, , January 3, 2012". Ops! Another comma. Make some changes on the document, save again, close, open again. Another comma.

If you try to insert a field with a non-english language, it will change the language to english in some cases.

Example:

(in brazilian portuguese)

Terça-feira, 3 de Janeiro de 2012 (that's correct)

after the save (.doc) --> close --> open
will be:

Tuesday, , 3 de January de 2012 (wrong, I want it in portuguese)

The same will not happen if I save it on the .odt format.

For more information with this problem, fell free to ask me about, I will be pleased to help.

Then don't save in .doc
Then don't save in .doc format as it is probably a conversion issue. You are always likely to run into problems if you save in other formats that is why you get this warning (unless you turned it off)

We work at a place where
We work at a place where people are migrating from the Microsoft software to the open one. The problem is that even when we complete the change, we'll still need to send some documents by e-mail to guys who are using Microsoft Office.

That's OK, we will save the document on .odt format, but isn't it a bug?

if they don't need to edit

if they don't need to edit them, just view them, you can send as .pdf

You would have to ask if develops the question 'is it a bug?' If they think so, then they might fix it.

Nobody here can do that for you though so try your luck here http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport

I think it's a bug. I could
I think it's a bug. I could not reach the path to report it, links are broken. I thought people could report bugs here too, to the dev team.

I will check this link, but I think I've already tried this one.

Well, anyway, thanks for your time and help :-)

one of the links on the page

one of the links on the page I gave you is for the bug assistant - as of right now that seems to be working https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/ (you need or will need to create a bugzilla account which can be done on the sign in page)
