Hi.

Very new user here.

I am constructing a simple table, consisting of a number of cells and I’m wondering if it is possible to change the format (how thick the line is, colour, etc) of individual cell boundaries. Currently I am able to change the format of all four boundaries (left, right, top, bottom) of each cell but the change affects all of them together.

Just to explain further, using a simple example: Say I have a simple four cell table and I want the horizontal line running along the middle of the table to be a different format (say, thickness) to the rest of the table boundary lines.

Is this possible? Thanks.

You already selected the cell in question and hit Control+1?

From that cell format pop-up window, select Borders (tab) and away you go. I have attached an example for you.

Thanks for the reply.

Actually I posted this question in the ‘Writer’ section, because this is a Writer document. Having said that, I think you have a great idea to instead create this ‘document’ as a spreadsheet. So much more flexible (unless someone else comes up with a way to do this in Writer).

Thanks also for taking the time to provide an example.

Excellent help.

Sorry, John, did not realize
Sorry, John, did not realize this was for Writer. My bad.

It is VERY similar to do this in Writer, but a bit more work. Basically, select the cell and go to Tables -> Table Properties, then edit the cell’s borders as I mentioned above.

Again, here is an example:

Wow, an even better answer!

Many thanks for this – I see exactly how this can be done now, as per your example.

An excellent response overall. This bodes well for any help I might need in future.

Cheers.
