I received the following 1336 error during the install of LibreOffice 5.0.4.2, which caused a rollback of the installation near the end of the install to my old version, which was 4.4.7.2:

Error: 1336. There was an error creating a temporary file that is needed to complete this installation.

If it matters, I am installing to the D: drive of my laptop, which is an SD card. I had no problems installing 4.4.7.2 there, as well as a bunch of other programs. Maybe I will try running the installation program as administrator.

EDIT: Here is the entry in the event viewer (Win 10 Home 64 bit). Note the path in question “Folder: D:\Config.Msi\. System error code: 5”

Free temp folder.
From this link http://answers.microsoft.com/es-es/windows/forum/windows_8-windows_insta..., looks like it may come from a larger number of files in the temporary folder, perhaps cleaning it could help.

Thanks Mariosv, that solved the problem. Don’t know how you came across this one. I had close to 3000 files in temp, and I only had the computer for a few weeks. I guess it is a Windows 10 thing, or maybe a side effect of the manufacturer’s bloatware.
