Salve a tutti, vorrei chiedere un consiglio agli esperti. Fino ad oggi ho usato un mac 20' del 2007 e sistema operativo Snow Leopard. Nonostante la mancanza di aggiornamenti ha funzionato abbastanza bene fino ad una settimana fa, poi improvvisamente sono inziati problemi all'avvio e blocchi durante l'uso. Oggi non riesce a caricare, quindi l'ho avviato in modalità sicura, ripara disco dice che il disco deve essere riparato, ho quindi ultimato il backup, ed ora se lo accendo rimane fermo alla rotellina che gira.
La mia domanda: posso pensare di montare un ssd, aumentare la ram da 2 a 4 gb e un sistema operativo più recente? Conviene che io investa dei soldi su una macchina considerata da apple ormai obsoleta?
Non faccio un uso intensivo del computer, solo navigazione internet, pacchetto office e guardo qualche film.
Sono ormai anch'io una nonna (come il mio mac) senza conoscenze informatiche e non voglio buttarlo se ancora può funzionare. Grazie :)

ciao Anto e benvenuta. hai un iMac 20"?
onestamente non so quanto possa dare in più un ssd su un Mac cosi vecchio ( ma perfettamente funzionante ). forse converrebbe più un disco tipo 7200 rpm o ibrido.
per i problemi che hai, ti consiglio ti scaricarti il programma Etrecheck e di postare qui il risultato, in modo che gli esperti possano darti una mano a farti tornare come prima il buon e vecchio Mac.

ps: ricorda, i nonni, sono i giovani di ieri, il pilastro per i giovani di oggi ed i ricordi per i giovani del futuro!!!! GRAZIE a tutti voi

Per me la risposta alla tua domanda è sì, specialmente se del tuo Mac continuerai a fare un uso "domestico" senza necessità di portarlo al limite (navigazione, posta elettronica, banca on line, qualche video in streaming etc.).

Se hai fatto il backup sei già a metà dell'opera.

Dovrai sostituire il disco (con un disco tradizionale o ssd) e dato che ci sei aumenta anche la ram.
Metti il seriale del mac in questi siti e riportane le caratteristiche principali.

Se è un core Duo rimarrai a snow leopard

Fai quello che pensavi di fare: gli ssd oggi costano poco e non lamentano (sembra) inconvenienti.

Se Snow Leopard ti è bastato fino ad oggi, rimetti quello.
Io lo uso ancora e non mi passa neppure per la capa di aggiornarlo.

- Dovresti mettere un SSD, anche con poco guadagno rispetto alle prestazioni di questi dischi otterrai un miglioramento inimmaginabile.

- La tua dotazione di ram è scarsa, insufficiente, portala a 4GB almeno.
Potresti anche portarla a 6GB, aggiungendo due schede da 2GB, se le trovi.
Più facile usate che nuove...

Reinstalla da zero, hai il sistema fortemente compromesso.

Potrai installare nuovamente SnowLeopard.
Ma ti consiglio, effettuato l'upgrade hardware come indicato sopra, Mavericks.

NON installare nuovamente il software di supporto ai dischi WD.
Inutile, pesante ed anche pericoloso

l'SSD è meglio posizionarlo al posto del disco attuale o al posto del lettore cd?

se le cifre da spendere sono nell'ordine non superiori ai 100 euro forse può ancora valere la pena di tirare avanti un altro po con il mac che hai.....diversamente prenditi un mac mini oppure aspetta che escano i nuovi visto che quelli attuali risalgano se non vado errato al 2014.......ho suggerito questo modello in quanto ti permette di rimanere nel mondo mac non spendendo cifre elevate e consentendoti di recuperare eventuali device esterni come monitor tastiere e mouse.......ciao

ssd ok, ma ricordiamoci che il collegamento è un SATA, perciò con una banda passante di 3 GB max... non so quanto sia il guadagno reale mettendo un ssd. Di certo 6 gb di ram, rispetto ai 2 che ha ora, si notano di sicuro di più. Tralasciando il valore affettivo del Mac, non so quanto convenga spendere per dargli un piccolo step in più. Stiamo parlando di una macchina di 10 anni fa. Sul mbp del 2006 della mia ragazza, onestamente, mettendo un ssd e ram a 4 gb, non abbiamo notato un incremento visibile. Io forse a casa ho un paio di banchi di ram proprio di quel tipo che non uso più, del mio vecchio iMac, posso comunque controllare. Ssd, prova. Ti conviene trovare il disco con insieme l'adattatore, cosi da spendere comunque meno.

Mi chiedo proprio questo, se conviene investire dei soldi su questo Mac, dovrei acquistare SSD la ram e trovare un esperto che faccia il lavoro. Da sola temo di combinare disastri.

L'adattatore circa 3 euro e qualcosa per gli attrezzi se non ce l'hai.

La complessità non è alta, se hai una buona mano lo puoi fare anche tu.
Se non te la senti cerca un riparatore privato, o un piccolo negozio, anche non specializzato Mac.
Potrebbe costarti, così, dai 50 ai 70 euro, oppure un amico che abbia qualità per farlo anche a meno.

Sono per un iMac 20" metà 2007 EMC 2133, se è un altro modello dovrai cercare il corrispondete tutorial.
Trova su MacTracker o su EveryMac la correttezza del modello descritto anche in Informazioni su questo Mac, sul tuo menù .

Le ram sono piuttosto costose e non si trovano facilmente.
