Questioni d'annata (2001 circa) e RAM già al massimo (512 MB)...

hai pur sempre un sistema aggiornato, recente, su un pc "datato"
altri non ti avrebbero permesso di rimanere aggiornato con hardware "vecchio"

hai comunque un sistema operativo supportato fino quasi al 2018

non capisco perché altre grandi software house non seguono questo metodo serio e molto interessante per le realtà aziendali, che permette di programmare nel tempo gli aggiornamenti hardware/software e quindi di conseguenza il lavoro e gli investimenti

che poi stiamo parlando di Ubuntu e ambiente grafico moderno (quindi pieno di effetti, trasparenze, ombre, etc... quindi pesante)

ci sono sempre altri ambienti di lavoro meno esosi
come XFCE e LXDE

Sì, non lo avevo ripetuto qui ma in effetti ho Edubuntu per farci smanazzare anche la figlia. Altrimenti sarei andato probabilmente di Xubuntu o altri.

e poi i pacchetti di edubuntu che si preferiscono
con pochi semplici click

Toh, caruccio. Pensavo che Edubuntu fosse solo per Ubuntu e non ho mai studiato oltre.
