Premessa: il Mac si accende e funziona regolarmente, il problema si presenta quando devo spegnerlo compare lo schermo con la girandola e cosi rimane per molto tempo.
Devo forzare lo spegnimento tenendo premuto il tasto di accensione.

Domande di rito. 1. Hai installato applicazioni che possano aver causato questo fenomeno? Penso anche a driver per stampanti o altre estensioni del kernel.
2. Hai riparato già i permessi (con Onyx)?
3. Hai riparato il disco? (Utility disco)
Potresti anche aprire la Console (Applicazioni>Utility) e vedere se ci sono messaggi strani mentre si spegne. Seleziona, in alto a sinistra Tutti i messaggi.
Vediamo che salta fuori.

Ho riparato i permessi ed eliminato tutte le cache con Onyx e verificato il disco: tutto OK.

Puoi anche, sempre con Onyx, impostare la modalità di avvio Verbose e stare a guardare che succede quando si spegne. Ma con console puoi vedere il log dello spegnimento anche dopo, basta sapere l'orario esatto.

Intanto: lo fa con altri utenti? lo fa anche solo ad andare in stop? ha cominciato a farlo in un momento preciso (cambio hardware o software)? Nel dubbio, farei una riparazione del disco con il DVD di installazione e poi un avvio in Safe Mode. Hai provato almeno una volta a lasciarlo cuocere nel suo brodo e vedere se risolveva da solo? Periferiche collegate? ...
E comunque perché lo spengi e non lo lasci in stop?

lo spengo perché non mi piace consumare inutilmente energia, ho messo una ciabatta con interruttore, cosi spengo tutto modem, stampante, capsule e dormo tranquillo.
Ho già fatto la riparazione del disco, usato Onix per eliminare le varie cache, avviato in Safe Mode e anche AppleJack, tutto OK.
Forse non resta da fare altro che Archivia e installa ma con Snow Leopard come si procede?
Dopo devo reinstallare tutti i programmi e rifare tutti gli aggiornamenti?

Non si spegne anche con altri utenti e con time-capsule, modem e stampante staccati e spenti.
Si può ripristinare da time machine tutto il sistema riportandolo indietro a quando funzionava?
Si deve avviare dal dvd di SL oppure è sufficiente lanciare TM dal dock?
E una installazione dal dvd di SL mantiene le configurazioni e i programmi extra installati?

Dovresti seppiare tutto, installare SL e importare l'account dal backup di TM, poi aggiornare il sistema.

Dopo una serie di tentativi ho ripristinato dal DVD di SL un backup di Time Machine del 29 aprile e ora si spegne anche se più lentamente di prima.

C'entra qualcosa il fatto che ho iniziato con un Mac Mini PPC e poi ho fatto la migrazione sull'iMac?
Adesso si spegne anche se più lentamente di prima, quindi per il momento lascio le cose come stanno.
