Why is default save location being changed to last saved location?

I have been searching for files I made today, only to realize that LO is not saving automatically to the default path that I have set in teh options (my desktop). Each time I create a new document, it reverts to the location of the previous document that I saved. Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of having a default save location?

At any rate, is there a way I can always make it prompt me to save a new document to the desktop, which is my default path for My Documents?

per session?
Does it used the last used location per session or does this behaviour persist between closing and restarting LO? The default location is just that: the initial default. It can however be overridden and like most repeated tasks in computing, the next thing wanted is likely the last thing used.

Good question. No, it still
Good question. No, it still does this even after I have shut down LO.

I could understand ignoring the default during a session. But even after closing out LO, and then restarting, the next new document that i try to save defaults to that same location.

report bug
The other thing to try is a reboot between tests as under Windows LO may remain resident. If the last used location is sticking, then it is worth reporting a bug.

I’ll see if one has been
I’ll see if one has been filed already. If not, I’ll file one.

It should not require a system reboot, just to get the default location set back to the default.
