Alternate would be to make
Alternate would be to make sure the cell IS formatted to “TEXT”, but do not enter the apostrophe.
If you do this then when you want to use the number in a calculation you need to use VALUE ( A1 ), (if A1 is the cell reference).
When I use apostrophe to enter the number with leading zeroes, apostrophe appear in cell.
How to make him disappear.
1) Make sure the cell is NOT formatted to “TEXT” (Control+1 or Format->Cells)
2) In the Format Cells box, select the “Numbers” tab (first tab), in the Category, it should be “Number” or whatever you need.
3) To get leading zeros, type in the entry box under “Format code” and use “00#” to have two leading zeros, or however many you need, and click OK.
Did that do it? It’s all in the “format code” of the user-defined number category you create.
