Putting a box around single words?

Hi everyone!
For a project that I am working on I would really like to be able to simply put a box around single words within normal text in Writer.
Ideally I would like it to function the same way as marking or underlining selected text, but with the effect of a drawing a rectangle around the word.
I am not at all hopeful that what I want is possible in a not too complicated way, but if someone does know how might be done I would be very happy!
Thanks,
tenten

Defining a Character Style to use a background to the selected word might serve the same purpose.

Recent versions of LibO....
…also support a ‘Border’ set of character properties. The character style dialogue is containing an extra tab for it. As RoryOF already stated the definition of a named style for the purpose is recommendable. See attached.
(I do not know exactly which version was the first one to support this kind of borders. V4.4.7 already supported the feature. V3.6.5 did not. This may be related to the introduction of V1.2 extended of odf specifications.)

The borders function is supported (I’m using version 5.0.5.2) and it serves my purpose perfectly.
