Hi,

I can’t find a way to put another page style after the endnotes.
As an example, it would be nice to be able to have:

The text of my masterpiece (page style: default, with header)
Endnotes (style: endnote)
Bibliography (style: default)
Glossary (style: default)
A few pages dedicated to the glory of the author (style: first page, no header)
Perhaps a blank page or two (style: first page, no header)

I don’t want to use footnotes at the bottom of each page, I think they make a book look too technical and put some readers off. They are also ugly, imho.

Perhaps this can be done using footnotes-at-the-end-of-the-section, but I haven’t found how to do this. Whatever I do, I cannot insert a page break at the end of the endnotes/footnotes.

If this isn’t possible in LibreOffice, does anyone know if it can be done in OpenOffice?

Thanks

ALT+ENTER
This key combination is used to break out of a section, which is what the endnotes are placed in. Also refer my post here about placing endnotes at the end of a section (in that case to create a leading title). You may need to do this after inserting the biblio etc.

Re: Footnotes/endnotes and page breaks
The usual way to do this is to place the body of the work in a Section (/Insert Section), setting (in section properties) to place endnotes at end of section.

Thanks for the amazingly
Thanks for the amazingly quick reply. The alt+return trick doesn’t work for me. Nor does ctrl+return or alt_gr+return or “windows”+return. I’ve had a quick look in the keyboard shortcuts and can’t find anything about breaking out of a section, either in the pre-set key mappings or in the functions box. I’m using version 4.2.8.2 with Ubuntu 14.04.

Re: Footnotes/endnotes and page breaks
To get out of a section, you must position cursor at the very top or bottom of the section and type Alt+Enter

If a section is only one line then the breakout is to the bottom of the section; if the section is longer, position at top breaks out to top, and position at bottom breaks out to bottom.

I advise always setting a background colour for sections; this helps distinguish them from surrounding text when editing. It can be removed or suppressed for printing. Also helpful to /View /non printing characters.

Thanks to both of you.
Thanks to both of you. RoryOF, I didn’t see your comment before posting last time.

I think I’ve finally got it fixed now, though I’m not quite sure what I did to get the headers right. I’ll save this one as a template, I won’t remember this next time.
Cheers.
