This is my first time posting here, thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I can no longer search using LO’s built in ‘check for update’. When I select the option to check for an update it reports that the “check for an update failed”. It had worked till about mid December and stopped working about the end of the year. I noticed it not working about the end of the year when I was using LO’s prior version. I stopped my AV’s firewall, but that did not help. On Jan. 10 I installed the newest version and still have the same problem. I then did an un-install re-install with Revo Uninstaller Pro and that did not fix the problem.

I am using LibreOffice ver. 5.0.4.2/32. My computer is Windows 7/64 with all the current updates, I am using Webroot AV (it had not been a problem before, but I did stop its firewall). I can not think of anything that I have done or what is different on the computer since I noticed the problem.

check for an update failed
No, it has not changed. I am still unable to check for updates using the built in update checker.

up to date
As I write this v5.0.4.2 is the most up to date version available. It may be that the message being reported is not accurate or has changed?

known bug / intermittant problem
It appears this is bug tdf#80110 which has been around since was first reported for v4.3.

EDIT: As now indicated in the bug report it seems this is an intermittant issue due to (in this case) a website problem. The desire of the Design team is to improve the dialogue to more clearly indicate update process and status (success/fail) at each step. Thanks tacua and gA57F for helping clarify this.

@ oweng, I don’t think so.
@ oweng,

I don’t think so.

As tacua wrote (and I confirm the same) =
“It had worked till about mid December and stopped working about the end of the year.”

still not working
I downloaded LO 5.0.4 again, and ran the repair mode in the installer on the 19th, it did not help. Any other suggestions?

to reiterate
v5.0.4 is the latest available version i.e., there is no further update available as I write this. Having stated that, the updater is evidently broken at present as the bug I linked above indicates.

Thanks oweng I didn’t realize
Thanks oweng I didn’t realize that it was a link to the bug page in your one post, it was not as ‘flagrant obvious’ as most sites. I finally looked at it and read it. Seems as though I am not alone thanks.

Seems that problem solved.

Updater checked few minutes ago, it works.
No more “check for an update failed”

It works
It is now working for me also.

It is surprising to me that I was the first person to start a thread. I searched and could not find any mention of the problem in the forum or Google. That’s when I tried the un-install re-install, which did not help. Thanks again oweng for pointing the problem out to me and that I was not the only one.
