Reporting anomaly
Sun, 08 Mar 2015 - 5:05 PM
I maintain a database of my music collection on Base. I find that when I request a report on Medium Total and Value (meaning a separate count for vinyl albums and CDs) the report shows two totals for both LPs and CDs:
CD
1354
$22203
CD
1
$18
LP
346
$4968
LP
1
$15
The Medium value is always entered as “LP” or “CD”. This has only started fairly recently. Why is it so?

single wayward record?
All I can recommend is searching the database for $18 CD and $15 LP records. One of each appears to getting treated differently and so may contain something different. I cannot find an open related Base bug for “report”+“group”.

two additonal report groups?
Hi kafka:
I think oweng might be on the right track (no pun intended). Is it possible that you typed in LP and CD with trailing blanks for just 2 single records (so two additional groupings are created)?

It worked!
I found one LP space and one CD space.and, after fixing them, my report was correct. I hope I remember this solution in future.
Thanks a lot.

Yes
Yes, that is what I did. I have since changed the input cell so this is no longer possible.
