Having just downloaded version 4.4 to replace an earlier version that stopped working I find I cannot open old saved files-eg spread sheets and memos and get the message ‘The requested operation requires elevation’. I have no idea what this means or what I need to do. can anyone help please?

You may get some information from this thread on answers.microsoft.com.

Please make also sure that you download the LibreOffice installer for Windows (msi) exclusively from http://www.libreoffice.org/ .
If you have continuing trouble with your system installing LibreOffice (I never had), you may also use (temporarily?) a portable version without installing to the system and only requiring to expand a self-extracting .paf.exe file. Portable versions you may also get (for 4.3.5, e.g.) from the document foundation, or from http://portableapps.com (PA don’t offer the versions I would recommend at this time).

Currently installed: LibO V5.1.2 on Windows 10
