Io ho montato un SSD interno sul mio iMac del 2009; raramente mi fa lo stesso difetto, all'accensione ci mette parecchio a far apparire la mela, poi viaggia velocemente.
Non ho mai capito da cosa dipendesse, credo ci metta un pò a trovare il disco di avvio (ed è l'unico) per poi partire normalmente.
Facendolo però raramente, non me ne sono mai preoccupato.
Capisco che se lo facesse sempre, sarebbe una gran rottura...
 Il futuro (Apple)? Nammerda!

Di un costoso Mac si può fare a meno, di macOS no... (cit. fax)

si in effetti ho comprato un case dove ho inserito il disco ssd samsung che avevo nel vecchio macbook pro pagandolo 11€ non credo che sia UASP, comunque a parte l'avvio per tutto il resto è una scheggia! In tal caso si trovano degli ssd esterni con uscita thunderbolt 3?

Salve a tutti, dopo tanti anni sono tornato a chiedere aiuto, sto acquistando in leasing, un iMac 27" base, 8Gb di Ram e HHD 1Tb con fusion drive, leggendo qua e la mi è venuta voglia di avviarlo dalla porta Thunderbolt tramite un SSD da 500 Gb, mi piacerebbe quello indicato qualche post fa della Samsung, vi pongo qualche domanda:

1) Per installare il S. O. posso farlo da utility disk, naturalmente dopo aver formattato il SSD ??, nei feedback su Amazon leggo una strana procedura da fare da terminale ne riporto un estratto "per sceglierlo come disco di avvio (Boot per intenderci dato che i Mac hanno solo HDD) ho dovuto leggere un bel po' di guide poiché da UI del sistema non potevo installarci High Sierra. ho risolto entrando su : Launchpad/Altro/Terminale e inserendo questa stringa " diskutil eraseDisk JHFS+ Backup disk2 " (ovviamente formatterà il vostro SSD Samsung a 0) e solo così dal Setup di High Sierra (scaricato prima da App Store) potete installarlo come SSD Primario Boot." per quello che posso capire io mi sembra di capire che cancella il SSD lo formatta e dovrebbe fare un salvataggio del HDD interno ?? ma dove ?? ma serve fare questo ??

2) Dopo aver installato il S. O. su SSD esterno vorrei formattare il HHD interno, cosa succederà al fusion drive ?? vedrò due partizioni ??

3) Forse andava fatta per prima, essendo l'iMac in leasing posso apportare queste modifiche ?? io penso di si perché poi il bene alla fin dei conti è mio, ma essendo la prima volta che acquisto con questa forma non ho certezze.

Sono cosciente che potevo optare per la verisione con SSD da 500 Gb, ma la differenza di prezzo mi pareva esageratamente eccessiva, grazie per l'attenzione, Maurizio.

Sarò breve: per 120 euro di differenza ti consiglio di prendere il modello con SSD da 256 e risparmi mille sbattimenti.

Mi inserisco in questo topic aperto da ricky_ebbasta in quanto sono nella identica situazione.
Pochi giorni fa ho acquistato un SSD Crucial MX500 da 1 TB + un box esterno Fantec ALU-25B31 in alluminio argento con cavo USB 3.0, compatibile con UASP.
Volume SSD regolarmente inizializzato con Utility Disco con nome: Macintosh SSD, Formato: APFS, Schema: Mappa partizione GUID.
Ho installato sull’SSD prima il sistema macOS High Sierra (ultima versione 10.13.6), poi con Assistente Migrazione ho caricato tutto il resto (applicazioni, dati, ecc.).
Poi ho modificato su Preferenze Sistema il disco di avvio scegliendo il disco “Macintosh SSD”.
Tutto andato in modo perfetto.
Il problema purtroppo si presenta all’accensione.
Il tempo medio (non è mai uguale ad ogni accensione) è di 2 minuti e 30 sec. da quando si visualizza la Mela bianca e subito dopo appare la barra di caricamento.
Nota: il caricamento è di pochissimi secondi, come già detto da ricky_ebbasta.
Provato, più volte, a reimpostare la SMC + la NVRAM : nulla, nessun miglioramento.
Provato i comandi a Terminale, suggeriti più sopra da faxus, e questa è la risposta:

Provato anche l’avvio in modalità dettagliata (tasti ⌘+V) ma è impossibile leggere le righe, quasi 2 videate, perché scorrono continuamente, sono piccolissime e si fermano per 1/2 secondi max.
Domanda: c’è un comando per arrestare le righe, soprattutto per leggere bene quelle ultime?

No, Apple SSDetcetera è il volume fisico, Macintosh HD è il volume logico.

I comandi di Terminale vanno letti, e le risposte anche.

Se il comando chiede:
- Quali sono i volumi che si possono scegliere per avviare questo Mac?
E la risposta è:
- Questo da cui sto chiedendo e l'altro, che sta su un altro disco, e che si chiama Macintosh HD.
Perché, secondo te, NON è giusto?

E perché mai?

Se vuoi leggere il resoconto di sistema in avvio, basta che trovi il relativo syslog.
Il modo più semplice è consultarlo in Console

Ho aperto Utility disco e li identifica proprio in questo modo:
l'unità hardware connessa alla scheda madre la chiama Apple SSD "tipo di connessione",
mentre la partizione formattata con la quale interagisce l'utente la chiama
Macintosh HD volume logico con "versione OS X"

La fase di caricamento (avanzamento della barra) è invece velocissima: durata pochissimi secondi.
Ciò avviene da quando ho collegato al mio iMac un SSD Crucial MX500 da 1 TB inserito in un case esterno Fantec con cavo USB 3.0 e compatibile con UASP.
Ovviamente dopo aver scelto come disco di avvio l'SSD Crucial, che l'ho chiamato “Macintosh SSD”.

Sto esaminando su Console il system.log riguardante la fase di avvio.
Non è facile, ma ci provo.

Ci ho provato, ma non è facile individuare il periodo in cui viene “gelato”.
Comunque, con calma, ho cercato di scorrere il sys.log per trovare qualcosa che potesse evidenziarmi delle anomalie o errori.
Infatti, ho trovato indicazione di 2 errori, questi:
