Per scrupolo scarica la versione di prova di SMART Utility e verifica le condizioni dell'hard disk.

Hai un sistema su un hardware insufficiente.
Un disco rotazionale e 4GB di ram NON possono supportare e sopportare High Sierra.
(Peraltro non aggiornata, con gravi rischi della sicurezza, 10.13.1 ha un bug)

Alla luce, soprattutto che Sierra e High Sierra sono praticamente uguali.
La differenza sta sostanzialmente nel filesystem APFS e in Metal2.
Tu non puoi utilizzare né uno né l’altro, che senso ha?

A mio parere personale anche Sierra è troppo.
Dovresti mettere un SSD per poterla utilizzare e altri 4GB di ram che non puoi mettere su quel mini, quindi un SSD è obbligatorio

Il consiglio è:
- aggiorna l’hardware, con meno di 150 euro, metti 250GB di SSD

Poi:

- Risolvi i problemi causati dal software pesante, scarsamente utile ma conflittuale Adobe.
Elimina Acrobat reader o DC e usa Anteprima o l’elegante Skim.
Leggerissimi, funzionale e senza alcun tipo di problema

- Disinstalla Malwarebytes è un software neotruffa, hanno acquistato un buon programma funzionale antiadware per veicolare un antivirus a pagamento.

- Elimina TeamViewer se non lo usi costantemente, all’occorrenza lo reinstalli

- Per lo stesso motivo elimina Chromoting

- Hai un hardware troppo risicato per usare Chrome, usa Safari o opera o Yandex, browser più leggeri e meno esosi di CPU.

- Elimina /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.installer.cleanupinstaller.plist

- Elimina Adobe SwitchBoard, ed eliminalo da preferenze di Sistema > Utenti e gruppi > Elementi del login.

- Elimina /Library/nternet Plug-ins/SharePointBrowserPlugin

- Aggiorna java a 9.1

Per le disinstallazioni e trovare quello che non riesci scarica ed usa EasyFind
